Hello all:
I have an incredible opportunity for Monday night, Hildia Campbell of Voices with Soul will be able to join us at rehearsal for a little while. Hildia is a professional musician doing gospel & R&B. She's offered to come and sing a bit for us, before we rehearse. Please invite your friends, past and present BOA members, and anyone who can appreciate some beautiful gospel music. We'll still sing through some oldies, and finish with a party and a bit of a discussion. So bring a friend, bring a plate, and you're going to have a happy time! Kristin Sunday, July 11

Hello all: I'm pleased to be back as Rehearsal Leader for Monday 21 June-19 July 2010. With 5 weeks together, we have the opportunity to learn some new songs, brush up some old favorites but most of all have a good time. I want to make sure we have fun, so please come with suggestions for songs to learn/revise. I'm looking through Rosie's old music for favorites. Chloe has given me her songbook too. So let me know and we'll give it a go. For our first rehearsal together, please listen up to the following songs prior to Monday's rehearsal:
Bring a friend or two and come prepared to make a joyful noise! Kristin Wednesday, June 2

Not going anywhere for now - my Mum is still in hospital (sedated and intubated). She had a mild heart attack and is recovering from a nasty lung infection.
But my family who are there are saying don't panic, come when planned in June (we're going for 4 weeks) and stay put until further notice.
...
I'll intend to come to choir on Monday at this point though. ....
Thanks for all your concern

For all those who have been and all those who would love to go, Tony Backhouse has two blog entries (Memphis and Chicago-New York) on the current tour in the US.
Tony says of the quartet program at the Greater True Light Church: Our group (billed as the Band of Angels) sang really well—I find it
such an honour to sing at these events. Then the Douglas Singers came
on, resplendent in royal blue, and blew our minds. The intensity, the
groove, the interplay and communication between these six women, all
phenomenally powerful soloists who bore down on the songs with all
their might—it was beyond intense. Beyond intense. Enjoy.Sunday, September 20

In mid 2007 a small choir in Perth started to dream of emulating the success of the "Choir of Hard Knocks" in the Eastern States. Like them, the "Spirit of the Streets Choir" gathered together its members from the homeless, the mentally ill and the socially disadvantaged in the community. In 2008 their dream was turned into reality when they appeared on stage in front of a sell out audience at the Perth Concert Hall. The "Streets to Angels" concert provides the opportunity to re enforce their reputation when they will perform together with the Perth Male Voice Choir and Mercedes College Select Choir to present a night of harmony and entertainment for all ages. `The Idea of North is a truly outstanding vocal quartet! Their musical arrangements are spectacular in their conception and delivery, with colours which range from the purest of unisons to some of the most intricate tensions and counterpoints. This is a wonderful group to watch in performance…truly a `sight and sound’ experience of the highest calibre.’ Don Burrows

Hi everyone and I hope this reaches somebody from choir in time as I can't get Kenn on his phones.
I cancelled work today because my neck still hurt and my voice felt croaky. I've been asleep all afternoon and woke up burning up with fever and horrid sore throat. I've phoned Mojos to cancel - their number is 008755 233 You could ask the choir if they want to do it without a conductor? Otherwise we are going to reschedule. By all means if everyone feels happy to go and do it anyway, please do. Really sorry this is so last minute but I only woke up at 5.30pm and realised there was no chance of getting to Freo and teaching like this. Well done to the choir for last night. I am very proud of you. xx Chloe xx Tuesday, July 14
