The Georgian Banquet is an evening of feasting, toast making and singing.
It is a wonderful social event where we acknowledge the importance of the things in life that connect us.
The banquet is still a strong tradition in Georgia where a small or larger feast will be held at the drop of a hat. The important thing is not the size but the spirit of the event.
Joseph Jordania of Melbourne first came to WA in 2003 to teach workshops in Georgian singing. This led to the formation of a Georgian choir (Lile) who sang at the 2003 Rugby World Cup and became mildly famous for a short while.
He’s an international authority on Georgian music and culture, regularly returning to Georgia, and will be going to Japan in May to accept a prestigious international award for his work as an ethnomusicologist.
We are using the ambient setting of St Paul’s church hall in Beaconsfield and the event is fully catered.
There are limited spaces at the table so let us know early if you’d like to come and join us.
Tickets $85
