After several warm or hot days @ 92 degrees a storm has come over late afternoon and its raining, a nice contrast. We have had several big days out for Angels and amongst today's travels was a few blocks across town on the trolley tram to Civil Rights Museum at Lorraine Motel. This was a moving and stirring experience which requires more thought than a blog entry; with  the realness of looking into the last room Martin Luther King was in with Precious Lord playing , as this was the song he had requested to be sung later that evening being pivotal for me.

Huge lunch as the Arcade Cafe and for me this has subsequently meant no need for an evening meal. We are eating abundantly well , trying local specialties. We were treated to a warm and welcome southern lunch on Sunday after church in such a beautiful friendly atmosphere in the basement of Bethlehem Church. This included Fran being sung a Stevie Wonder style version of Happy Birthday.

So BIG church day Sunday (as others have mentioned), all contrasted experiences. Mt Vernon was a radio broadcast service live across 7 states, and this plus the members encouragement, praise and rallying as we sang gave me goosebumps. Marjan sang the lead to Light of the World  beautifully. WE have been so welcomed and each Church and singing has been a contrasted experience.

Other stuff; twice in one day people told me I sounded like the crocodile man - Steve Irwin!!!!!  Memphis is an easy introduction to USA, a city geared for tourists and beyond tourist grid the city looks and feels economically depressed. Sun and Stax studios were a treat standing on such hallowed ground ; in fact there is hallowed ground almost on every corner.

So to sum upthe words to the song  Walking in Memphis capture an essence of the last few days:

Put on my blue suede shoes
And I boarded the plane
Touched down in the land of the Delta Blues
In the middle of the pouring rain
W.C. Handy - won't you look down over me
Cause I got a first-class ticket
And I'm as blue as a boy can be

Walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel

Saw the ghost of Elvis
Down On Union Avenue
Followed him up to the gates of Graceland
I watched him walk right through
Now security they did not see him
They just hovered 'round his tomb
There's a pretty little thing
Waiting on "The King"
Down in the Jungle Room

Walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
Do I really feel the way I feel

They've got catfish on the table
They've got gospel in the air
And Reverend Green be glad to see you
When you haven't got a prayer
You've got a prayer in Memphis

Now Muriel plays the piano
Every Friday at the Hollywood
And they brought me down to see her
And they asked me if I would
Do a little number
And I sang with all my might
She said
"Tell me are you a Christian"
I said "Ma'am I am tonight"

Walking in Memphis
Walking with my feet ten feet off of Beale
Walking in Memphis
But do I really feel the way I feel
